All The Fun Of The Fair

Moving away from the 1930s, where productions over All-The-Fun-of-the-Fair the pastfew years have been set, ‘All the Fun of the Fair’ is a modern jukebox musical love story with a book by Jon Conway, based on the songs of David Essex. It has successfully toured the UK twice in recent years and well as running for a limited season at the Garrick Theatre in the West End.

Set against the backdrop of a travelling funfair, ‘All the Fun of the Fair’ is a brand new, action-packed musical inspired by David Essex’s debut album ‘All The Fun Of The Fair’ and underscored by a helter-skelter of hits such as Winter’s Tale, Hold Me Close, Gonna Make You a Star, Me and My Girl Nightclubbing, Silver Dream Machine and Rock On. The show follows Levi Lee, a recently widowed father with a rebellious teenage son. There is a gypsy future teller who is in love with Levi, and tells him there is danger and mysticism in his future. Dodgems and motorbikes, crafty cons and candy floss, fairground horses and fights, as well as unrequited love, romance and rock and roll bring out the carnival atmosphere in this world of fairground life.

As well as featuring upbeat music and dancing, the show has parts for all ages. Initially there will be an introduction/ read through on WEDNESDAY 10th JUNE at 7.30pm in The Phoenix Hotel ballroom (side entrance, immediate turn left, through doors, up stairs, turn right, then through double doors). Auditions for principal parts will probably be held the following week – date to be confirmed. Normal rehearsals will be on a Monday/Thursday with dance rehearsals on Wednesdays.
